Biography

Andrew Sanderford is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Virginia Center for Housing Research.  Dr. Sanderford’s dissertation focused on the diffusion of energy efficiency into the U.S. housing stock and analyzed the role of the real estate appraiser.  Beyond his dissertation, Sanderford’s research focuses on issues related to housing, housing finance, and housing policy—typically around sustainability and energy efficiency.  His most recent work, a paper for the Credit Research Center’s Credit Scoring Conference, analyzed the mortgage market obstacles blocking greater adoption of energy efficient technologies, certifications, and underwriting tools.

Previously, Dr. Sanderford was a member of a real estate development and investment firm in Sun Valley, Idaho.  He also worked as the Associate Director of the Blaine Ketchum Housing Authority and served on a Technical Advisory Services Panel for the Urban Land Institute focused on post Hurricane Ike recovery in Galveston, Texas.
