Dustin C. Read
Biography
Dustin C. Read, PhD/JD, serves as an Associate Professor at Virginia Tech where he holds the William and Mary Alice Park Junior Faculty Fellowship in the Program in Real Estate. His teaching and research interests include asset management and property management, as well as real estate development and land use policy. Dr. Read is a former NAIOP Distinguished Fellow, a recent inductee into the Institute of Real Estate Management’s (IREM) Academy of Authors, and a six-time recipient of honors from the American Real Estate Society for his contributions to real estate theory and practice. His research has appeared in a number of leading academic journals including the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and Journal of Real Estate Research. He has also completed a number of research projects on behalf of real estate trade organizations operating in the affordable housing space including the Consortium for Housing and Asset Management (CHAM) and the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).

Experience
Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Dr. Read served as the founding Director of the Master of Science in Real Estate Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as the Director of the Center for Real Estate within the Belk College of Business. He is a licensed attorney and former Vice President of Investment Sales at an affiliate office of Cushman and Wakefield.
