The Program in Real Estate offered a 2020 Winter Term training course for the ARGUS Enterprise software system taught by a professional ARGUS trainer. This software is an invaluable tool for students interested in commercial real estate as it assists with financial analysis. This training was made possible though a generous $10,000 sponsorship by Berkadia.

“Students that have been trained on Argus software, an industry standard for commercial property valuations, will truly differentiate themselves when applying for internships and/or permit positions.   It is rare for entry level applicants to have Argus experience and those that do, will not only achieve higher starting salaries, but will also secure the most coveted jobs.  VA Tech is one of only a few undergrad programs that offer Argus Training as part of its curriculum and another reason it has been rated as one of the top real estate programs in the nation,” Gerry Trainor, Industry Advisory Board Member, said.

Students also expressed the benefits of the course:

“I really enjoyed my ARGUS experience because it really opened my mind to the possibility of pursuing a career in asset management. If you love real estate finance and rhythmic work, I would recommend this Bootcamp,” Laney Hull, Program in Real Estate senior, said.

This past Winter 2020 session included 29 students. Asa part of the course, students are eligible to take the ARGUS Enterprise certification exam.

“The ARGUS course was an insightful and challenging experience that offered case-driven commercial real estate analysis practice, as well as the opportunity to earn a valuable certification. In addition to helping me in my real estate courses at VT, the skills I have acquired have been a point of emphasis in interviews and networking overall,” Nick Amorim, Program in Real Estate senior, said.

This program is scheduled to be offered again during the Winter 2021 semester.
