Rosemary Carucci Goss reappointed as Residential Property Management Advisory Board Professor

Rosemary Carucci Goss, professor of apparel, housing, and resource management in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, has been reappointed the Residential Property Management Advisory Board Professor by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands and Executive Vice President and Provost Thanassis Rikakis.

The Residential Property Management Advisory Board Professorship was established in 1995 by the members of that board to recognize a teaching scholar in the field of residential property management chosen by the dean of the College of Human Resources (now the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences).

Goss has held the Residential Property Management Advisory Board Professorship since 2001.

A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1976, Goss currently serves as the associate director of the real estate program at Virginia Tech. She teaches undergraduate courses on property management and real estate and has served in a range of university governance roles.

She has led the development of the property management program and continues to be the key faculty contact for the Property Management Advisory Board.

Goss has been recognized by the National Academic Advising Association with a Certificate of Merit Outstanding Advising Award-Faculty Academic Advising. She also has been recognized with the Housing Impact Award by the Housing Education and Research Association for her contributions to the housing field by establishing the property management program at Virginia Tech and at other universities.

Goss was a charter member of the National Apartment Association Education Institute board of directors and received the first Apartment Career and Education Award in recognition of her contributions to their educational programs.

Based on her research related to housing options for older adults, residential property management, housing conditions of families in Appalachia, and the housing needs of all families, she has written numerous publications and has given many presentations to professional audiences in her career.

In 2014, she received Virginia Tech’s Alumni Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising.

Goss received her bachelor’s degree from Concord University, a master’s degree from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. from Florida State University.
